History
The German Shepherd Dog was developed in Germany from 1899 by Max von Stephanitz, starting from traditional German herding dogs. In Britain it is known as the Alsatian.
The breed was created for sheep herding and later took on many kinds of working roles. It gained international recognition after the First World War.
The American Kennel Club lists it in the Herding Group.
In Dog Kennel Simulator the breed goes by the shorter name German Shepherd.
Temperament
The AKC describes the German Shepherd as confident, courageous and smart. Its barking level is medium.
Care
Males stand 61–66 cm and weigh 29–41 kg; females stand 56–61 cm and weigh 23–32 kg.
Shedding is regular. The life span is given as 12–14 years.
